Questions we Are Often Asked
Hacienda Jacana is located in Talparo, Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago and is approximately 30 mins from Piarco Airport and 20mins south of Arima.
Check-in time is 2pm – 4pm. Check-out time is 11am. An earlier check-in or later check-out time can be requested in advance, and subject to other guests’ reservations, at a TT$ 200 fee per cottage/house and the charge is separately applicable to check-in and check-out.
Please call us on +1 (868) 498 7597 to check availability for a same day reservation, as unfortunately you will not be able to do so online.
Yes, Wood Rail Cottage can be booked via Airbnb.
Yes, we do sell gift certificates which can be for a cash value, accommodation or an all inclusive package. Please contact us on info@haciendajacana.com or +1 (868) 498 7597 if you would like to purchase one.
Please contact on info@haciendajacana.com to redeem your gift certificate.
We can accept card payments via Visa, Mastercard and Linx. Debit cards outside of Trinidad & Tobago can also be accepted if international transactions are permitted on your card. Direct bank transfers can also be accepted, but you will need to either email us at info@haciendajacana.com or call us on +(868) 498 7597 for details and to make your booking.
We do not have a restaurant. However, we can cater for you, but this must be ordered and paid for in full 3 days in advance of your stay and our menus are seasonal.
For groups of 8 or more, we will need your order and payment 5 days in advance of your stay.
Our prices start as follows and depending on your requirements, may be subject to change:
- Breakfast TT$ 120 per person (this is ‘do it yourself’ with items provided).
- Lunch TT$ 200 per person (delivered to your cottage/house 12pm-1pm).
- Dinner TT$ 280 per person (delivered to your cottage/house 6pm-7pm).
Please contact us if you would like us to cater for you by clicking here to complete our Catering Request Form and provide full details of any allergies so that we can accommodate you. Please note some specialty items may incur additional charges.
Alternatively, each cottage and the house have a fully fitted kitchen which is perfect for self-catering.

There are over 175 species of birds on the estate. See our list of birds spotted on the estate for the extensive list.
Wild animals are there but not always visible. With some effort you can see squirrels, agouti, mongoose, caimans and iguanas. Infrequent visitors have been deer, ocelot, sloth and otter.
Primarily bird watching which can be done from any part of the property and there is lots of space to walk.
There are no formal trails but guests are free to roam the estate and admire the beautiful flora and fauna.
Hunting is strictly forbidden as is the collecting of eggs, this is a safe haven for wildlife.
Guests may want to bring:
- Food and drinks
- Personal items
- Insect repellent
- Hammock
There are local grocery shops within a 10 min drive. We would be more than happy to provide recommendations during your stay.

Yes, we can accommodate photo shoots for events such as engagement shoots and this is subject to availability and must not be disruptive to our guests. Please either email us at info@haciendajacana.com or call us on +(868) 498 7597 for availability and pricing options.
There is a space under each of the cottages and at the House on The Hill to hang your hammock, so feel free to bring it along.
We do offer seasonal provision of honey, fruit juices and coconut water that can be purchased during your stay.
Depending on your requirements, we may be able to accommodate your requests. If you get in touch with us, we will see what we can do.
We have a strict no pets allowed policy.
