Questions we Are Often Asked

Hacienda Jacana is located in Talparo, Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago and is approximately 20mins south of Arima.

Our cottages are TT$1,650 / night (inclusive of tax) for 4 adults & 2 children (under 12).

House on The Hill is TT$2,500 / night (inclusive of tax) for a maximum of 8 people.

Our current special is as follows and valid until 2 June 2024

Our cottages are

  • TT$1,400 / night (inclusive of tax) for 4 adults & 2 children (under12).
  • TT$1,100 / night (inclusive of tax) for 2 adults only and use of one room.

House on The Hill is TT$2,100 / night (inclusive of tax) for a maximum of 8 people.

Check-in time is 2pm – 4pm. Check-out time is 11am. An earlier check-in or later check-out time can be requested in advance, and subject to other guests’ reservations, at a TT$ 200 fee per cottage/house and the charge is separately applicable to check-in and check-out.

Please call us on +1 (868) 498 7597 to check availability for a same day reservation, as unfortunately you will not be able to do so online.

We can accept card payments via Visa, Mastercard and Linx.  Debit cards outside of Trinidad & Tobago can also be accepted if international transactions are permitted on your card. Direct bank transfers can also be accepted, but you will need to contact us for details and to make your booking.

Hotel tax of 10% is added to the base price of our rooms. 

We do not have a restaurant.  However, we can cater for you, but this must be ordered and paid for in full 3 days in advance of your stay and our menus are seasonal.

For groups of 8 or more, we will need your order and payment 5 days in advance of your stay. 

Our prices start as follows and depending on your requirements, may be subject to change:

  • Breakfast $105 TTD per person (this is ‘do it yourself’ with items provided).
  • Lunch $175 TTD per person (delivered to your cottage/house 12pm-1pm).
  • Dinner $245 TTD per person (delivered to your cottage/house 6pm-7pm).

Please contact us if you would like us to cater for you by clicking here to complete our Catering Request Form and provide full details of any allergies so that we can accommodate you.

Alternatively, each cottage and the house have a fully fitted kitchen which is perfect for self-catering.

Yes we can cater for you, so please contact us. Please note that all catering must be ordered and paid for in full 3 days in advance of your stay and our menus are seasonal.

We do not have a licensed bar however you are more than welcome to bring your own drinks.

We can arrange for an experienced bird guide to show you around. Please contact us with your requirements.

There are over 170 species of birds on the estate. See here for the extensive list.

Wild animals are there but not always visible. With some effort you can see squirrels, agouti, mongoose, caimans and iguanas. Infrequent visitors have been deer, ocelot, sloth and otter.

Primarily bird watching which can be done from any part of the property and there is lots of space to walk.

There are no formal trails but guests are free to roam the estate and admire the beautiful flora and fauna.

Hunting is strictly forbidden as is the collecting of eggs, this is a safe haven for wildlife.

Guests may want to bring:

  • Food and drinks
  • Personal items
  • Insect repellent
  • Hammock

There are local grocery shops within a 10 min drive. We would be more than happy to provide recommendations during your stay.

Yes, day trippers are welcome but please contact us directly before you arrive to confirm the price and if we can accommodate you.

Yes, we can accommodate photo shoots and this is subject to availability and must not be disruptive to our guests. Please contact us for availability and pricing options.

There is a space under each of the cottages and at the House on The Hill to hang your hammock, so feel free to bring it along.

We do offer seasonal provision of honey, fruit juices and coconut water that can be purchased during your stay.

Depending on your requirements, we may be able to accommodate your requests. If you get in touch with us, we will see what we can do.

We have a strict no pets allowed policy.

Yes, we do sell gift vouchers which are redeemable against accommodation only.  Please contact us on info@haciendajacana.com if you would like to purchase one.
